In the late1990's two wonderful people in Birmingham AL adopted a basset hound from another southeastern state basset rescue organization. Being the type of people who could see a need for this type of organization in Alabama, they started financing the rescuing of basset hounds in Alabama, calling it Birmingham Basset Rescue. As a result of contacting other folks in the Birmingham area who had adopted from out of state rescues, they got everyone together. In October 1999, Basset Hound Rescue of Alabama was incorporated as a 501c3 non-profit organization. In September 2006, the 1,000th basset rescue hound came into foster care.
Every hound rescued is checked over carefully for any medical problems, which if found, are taken care of before even going to a foster home. This is an all volunteer organization. Foster homes and Adopters are always needed as is money.
Benny wanted to give back to the community since he is a rescue, was fostered and then adopted. The sale of these precious pictures of Benny at the Beach are his way of giving back to help other bassets in need find "forever homes". By purchasing a picture and encouraging others to do so as well, much needed funds for medical care will be provided to another 1,000 hounds. Please visit www.bhra.org as well.
